Cuba Trip: Part 8 - Varadero Beach

Varadero beach is simply magnificent. When it's calm it's the most beautiful beach Brian and I have ever seen! No words can describe the color and translucency of the sea!

Varadero beach is more than 12 miles long though we only walked the section from Calle 38 to 68. There are many entries to the beach like this one.

Every morning at around 8am we walked to the beach to get our palapas for the day. We had to show up at this spot no later than 8:30am to grab one of the 5 available palapas.

We liked to have only few people around. It would be nice if there were more places with palapas and lounge chairs along Varadero beach.

The water in the first week of May, when we were there, stayed mostly calm every day until lunch time and then got somewhat wavy after.

There are some hotels where you can rent lounge chairs and palapas but there are more people around.

We preferred our little cosy spot. We didn't mind getting to the beach early as the roosters woke us up at 6am anyway.

There are some water activities one can do near hotels: pedal boats, kayaks, snorkeling trips

A beautiful old house right on the beach. Unfortunately, we don't know the history of the house. Though uninhabited, the house seems to be in pretty good shape. Locals sometimes use the veranda for family parties.

Around 11am sunrays illuminate the water in such a way that it becomes simply stunning. Not only the water is of gorgeous color but also absolutely clear and without seaweed!

Varadero beach on a calm day resembles a swimming pool but much better.

When the water is this incredible it's hard not to be silly and play around. We were so happy to be there!

While walking along the beach I couldn't stop admiring the water and exclaiming every 10 minutes  "How could this be so beautiful?!!!". The beauty of the sea never got old.

On the last day of our stay in Varadero the sky got cloudy and we were afraid that rain was coming. After a quick deliberation I decided to go for a swim and was so happy I did! The water had a differed kind of beauty and was amazingly warm.

We are going to miss Varadero beach. It made our trip to Cuba so much more enjoyable.
