Cuba Trip: Part 5 - Havana - Classic Car Sightseeing Tour
We took a tour of Havana in a classic convertible Ford Fairlane. The moment we saw our car we were impressed and I loved the color.
Our car waiting for us outside our Casa Particular (B&B)
Our driver told us that his car had been passed down in his family through generations and that he had to take good care of it doing multiple repairs every year. Unlike many of the classic cars in Cuba, the body work was very smooth with no noticeable patches. He also has to repaint the entire car every year or so due to corrosion from the salt in the air.
Off we go to see different neighborhoods of Havana
We stopped by Fusterlandia, mosaic wonderland created by artist Jose Fusters
One of the few photos of us together: at Fusterlandia
Quirky creative creatures
Cuba's best friend Hugo Chavez
We stopped in the Havana forest/Bosque de la Habana for 10 minutes to cool off slightly and saw some other nice classic cars
Calixto Garcia monumnet
One of the stops was the Revolution square / Plaza de la Revolucion
Many tourists stop here on their tours
Jose Marti monument
Brian and I in our beautiful convertible Ford Fairlane
We liked the area around Central Park / Parque Central
Recently renovated Gran Teatro de la Habana (Opera and Ballet theater) is a magnificent building
There are always colorful classic cars in front of the theater ready to take you for a ride...always negotiate the price!
Beautiful flowers across the street from the theater
At this red light near Central Park it felt like we were about to witness an old time drag race. Unfortunately, it didn't happen.
